What people thought of our work

| Here is the Larocca home's attic area before insulation was installed. |
And here is the completed insulation. This resulted in stable temperatures in livingroom and kitchen as well as a quieter home. |
What the owner had to say:
Our home was built in the ‘70s with very little roof insulation, and what there was didn’t work very well. When we looked up into the attic, we could see the sky through the roof tiles. Our upstairs’ bedrooms were really cold in the winter and got quite hot in the summer. Ponizil Energy did a home energy audit for us and advised putting up radiant barriers, lots of insulation, and a solar-powered fan to cool the attic.
We are really happy with the results. It’s still summer, and there’s a noticeable difference upstairs. It’s been much cooler up there, which of course results in our home being cooler overall. It’s now November and we haven’t needed to light the furnace yet because of the improved insulation in our house. It’s actually keeping us warmer!
In addition, we were really pleased with how Dadla coordinated the insulators with the roofer. The work was done on time and very professionally. Thanks, Dadla!

| The Hansens experienced overheating on the second story and also showed interest in solar energy harvesting. |
After a home audit, we insulated the attic and installed a solar water heater shown in this rear view. |
What the owner had to say:
Dadla did an excellent job of listening to the issues we were having in the house, identifying possible solutions, recommending improvements and following through on implementing our choices.
Dadla himself is quite energetic and the entire process was efficient for us as well as our home. The most tangible change so far has been the installation of the wood windows and how much quieter they are.
I wouldn't have said outside noise was a problem, but the quiet is lovely.
We haven't yet turned on our heat, and that may be because of the insulation, but difficult to say. The solar water heater makes me really happy, as does the hum of the Metlund pump in lieu of the running water.
(Added on 11/28/06) Just got our SDGE bill and our gas went down 80% over last October!!
This year I didn’t need to turn on the furnace until end of November. We generally turn it on near Halloween, so the insulation and windows gave us a free month!
(Added on Juy 31, 2007) Dadla, we're noticing that our offices, in particular, and the whole house in general is cooler this summer!
Thank you.
Gilpin Residence (10/4/2006):

| This home presented a major challenge: a light, airy, pleasant home with no roof insulation and no source of heating after the in floor radiant system became too leaky and unserviceable. |
We installed rigid roof insulation under a light colored membrane roof coating to reduce summer heat and retain the heat produced by the new high efficiency furnace and duct system. |
What the owner had to say:
The energy audit process was fascinating. I learned more than I probably wanted to know about the limitations of retrofitting my home to be more energy efficient [since the house was designed to be attractive with lots of windows but assumed a 70 degree outdoor temperature year-round].
We made a plan and it was executed very efficiently on a pretty tight time line. Dadla Ponizil is dedicated to getting the job done right.
